Slumber Party Hire - The only way to host a kids slumber party
Our kids slumber party hire packages and teepee tents are a pretty new concept but slumber or sleepover parties have been around since the beginning of time. The biggest challenge for most parents that are contemplating hosting a kids slumber party are probably the bedding requirements. Very few households have spare mattresses, blankets and bedding for four to twelve kids and the economics of buying everything don't really add up. Slumber Tribe slumber party hire packages take all of the stress out of that decision. Whats more, Slumber tribe hire packages offer a fun twist to the traditional slumber party. Give us a call today and we'll design a package for your party requirements.
Tips for an awesome Kids Slumber Party
I get asked a lot about kids slumber parties (or sleepover parties) and what issues parents need to consider before hosting one. After many successful (mostly) slumber parties I've developed a good understanding of what works and what doesn't. My top tips for the best kids slumber party are....
1. Make sure the kids are ready for it (age wise)
By far the biggest issue is making sure that younger kids (under say 8) are comfortable staying away at someone else's home. Most young kids have experienced staying with family members away from home but that is often quite different to staying with non family. I've found that kids are capable of sleepovers from about age 7 and above but at that age it definitely differs from child to child. Once you get to about 8 or 9 years of age they are all a lot more comfortable. Check with parents and if there are younger kids that might not make it through the night then consider an action plan on how to deal with it.
2. Make sure you (host) know the parents of the kids well
Having someone else's child stay at your home can feel like a big responsibility. However its generally just a matter of applying the same care, attention and supervision that you would apply to your own kids. If you know the parents well then you can identify any issues (perhaps cultural items etc) and plan in advance. Knowing the parents also reduces any stress because you can be sure of their expectations.
3. Set the right guest limit
It definitely gets easier the older the kids are so our rule of thumb is that if they are below 8 years old then have no more than 5/6 kids. Moving above 10 years of age and you could more comfortably supervise say 8 kids. Aged 11/12 upwards and 10 kids are manageable if you have the space.
4. Plan some activities but don't over plan
Lets face it. The kids will generally entertain themselves pretty well in a group. My advice is to plan a few activities and let them choose when to do them.
A kids slumber party or sleepover need not be a stressful experience provided you give these matters some thought in advance.
Enjoy and good luck!

Kids Party Activities and Ideas in Melbourne
So you're trying to determine what to do for your next kids party, birthday or special event. Not surprisingly, at Slumber Tribe we think that slumber parties and sleepover parties are one of the best types of entertainment for kids. Slumber parties are also relatively inexpensive compared to other venue hire options. However sometimes you can combine both because you need something to fill the day. So our tips for great kids party activities in Melbourne are
1. Bounce or Latitude Indoor Trampoline Centres
Lets face it, any kids party that involves non stop physical exercise for two hours must be a good thing. Most of these venues offer catering and coffee for the parents which makes then a good one stop shop for a birthday bash. Bounce started things off in Melbourne but in recent years many more have opened within the metro area. Latitude offers a more comprehensive experience with a indoor climbing activities as well.
2. Clip N Climb Indoor Climbing Centre
Another physically demanding activity, Clip N Climb offers fantastic kids entertainment at their Richmond Melbourne centre. This place offers a range of climbing to suite the youngest of kids up to teenagers or even adults. The staff are excellent and safety is paramount. Parking can be a challenge but otherwise this is another great kids party activity for those looking for something in Melbourne.
3. Melbourne Zoo or Werribee Open Range Zoo
A long time favourite, Melbourne Zoo offers something for everyone. You can normally keep the kids entertained for a few hours and there is a range of food available. No matter how many times we have been, kids can't seem to get enough of the Zoo. Take note of feeding times because many of the larger animals rest up during the day so it can be hard to see them. As an alternative the Collingwood Children's Farm offers a less expensive more accessible experience for those in the East. The main difference is only has farm type animals rather than the full range of zoo animals. Kids still love it and there are plenty of bike friendly paths nearby.
4. Melbourne Aquarium
If you looking for something different, the Melbourne Aquarium offers an underwater experience not to be missed. There are a wide range of tours and educational presentations which are well designed for kids and adults alike. Again, kids parties are well catered for with a range of food options. Parking can be a challenge but the upside is that its central to all parts of Melbourne.
5. Luna Park
What kids party would be complete without a trip to Luna Park in St Kilda. This place has been around forever (100 years) so chances are your visited at some point. Luna Park is always popular with the kids and there are rides for all ages.
Of course there are many more kids party activities in and around Melbourne but these are a few of our favourites.
